What was your greatest wish since you started wearing glasses?Of course that you do not have to wear them anymore. Why?

Glasses make your visual field small and reduce your 3D vision. They push on your nose, become dirty, scratchy and change your appearance. The only reason not to perform surgery is if you look better with glasses.

But the reason to consider Lasik is functional. Glasses project objects into far, make them appear smaller and cause your visual firld to become less wide.

You’ll feel free without glasses or contact lenses.

Excimer-Laser-Surgery has developed greatly within the last 15 years that we are happy to be able to offer this surgery to its top performance. Since the introduction of the Flying-Spot-Laser, the procedure is so exact, that the resultand refraction nearly always stays in the optical range of ± 0,5 D, so the patient can work, drive and do sports without glasses. Mainly visual acuity will be even better than with glasses or contact lenses.

The reason is, that the creation of the corneal surface to its optimal value is corrected individually for every patient. In the last years the wave-front technique has been developed for patients, whose cornea show deviation right from the beginning. It is performed in around 15% of our patients.

Your lasik information

In LASIK treatment, a flattening of the anterior corneal curvature is carved with the excimer laser.

The changement of the corneal surface causes a the focal point to be excactly on the correct point of the retina. Initially the upper layers are lifted up by an electronically controlled microkeratome device or with a Femto Second Laser. Then the tissue layers underneath are carved with the Excimer laser as shown in figure 3. This is done for myopia that the center is flattened, for far sightedness the center is steepened. Removal of 1/100mm tissue makes up for about 1 diopter.

The LASIK process

There are different types of lasers: broad-beam laser, scanning laser and flying spot laser. The latter devices are the latest development and cist up to EUR 650 000.

We use the german made flying spot laser ESIRIS from Schwind, which operates the standard wave-front and Q-value technique.
